Andy Briner
I was born and raised in Melba, earned a political science degree from BYU-Idaho, and live on a small alfalfa farm with my wife and two sons. I am running to defend constitutional principles, fight federal overreach, and represent the next generation of Idahoans. Like Thomas Massie, I believe in limited government, fiscal responsibility, and reading every bill before voting.

| ✓ | Citizen Involvement | I agree with the principles of article II but there needs to be some serious bureaucratic changes that happen before we demand in-person voting. I have waited hours in line to vote, requiring taking unpaid time off work, or going after work while someone cares for the children. I believe we need voter ID, but we need shorter lines and faster ways to vote. |

Survey and Interview Responses
How long have you lived in Idaho?
33 years
How long have you been a Republican? Any prior party affiliation?
15 years
Have you been involved with any political organizations (IACI, Idaho Majority Club, IFF< etc.)
No.
Have you supported candidates from another party?
No.
Why are you running for this office?
Idahoans deserve a choice in this primary election – someone who actually represents a majority of Republicans in this state.
Have you held elected office before?
I do not have any experience as a publicly elected official.
What makes you qualified for this role?
I have principles and a moral compass.
What are your top priorities in your first year?
I will support Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna in the full release of the Epstein documents. I will oppose any new wars and work to lower regulations that hurt small businesses and free and fair competition.
How have you served your community (boards, nonprofits, etc.)?
No, but I strive to serve my fellow man and neighbors every day.
What is your stance on the legalization of marijuana?
Marijuana has ruined many people’s lives the same way alcohol and legal pharmaceutical drugs have, but goes a step further because of the amount of people who are incarcerated because of it. I don’t know the right answer but there are people who need help and need to be able to be forgiven and move on from their mistakes.
Do you consider yourself fiscally conservative?
Yes. I am so fiscally conservative that I would oppose my own party if it raised the national debt in any way.
Do you consider yourself socially conservative?
I do not consider myself to be socially conservative. While I recognize that drugs, alcohol, and tobacco pose challenges to our society, I believe our focus as a community should be on helping everyone overcome their struggles. I support the concept of traditional marriage but disagree with the idea of the government offering special tax benefits for this lifestyle. Regarding gender, I hold that men and women should compete based on their sex at birth and use the corresponding restrooms. However, it is essential that every individual be treated with respect and dignity.
Give us your one-minute elevator speech for the campaign.
I plan to represent the younger generations and bring a fresh perspective. A lot of the people running are older than me and I realize that’s because most of my generation is stuck at home with kids. While I do have kids and work, I’m in a position to actually serve the people. I understand the struggles of my generation and younger generations and the things that they’ve had to put up with financially.
What is your plan to advocate for your top priorities?
I plan to get my generation more involved in politics. I feel like they are just kind of out of it and not really interested because they’re not feeling represented. I think once you get the grassroots movement of my generation going, they will support and back my policies
Where do you see harmful federal overreach in Idaho, and how would you return authority to states and local communities?
The Department of Education. I feel like ever since it was created, the education in the United States has gone downhill. We were number one at one point and now we rank 40th. I think the Department of Education has actually done us more harm than good. It has hindered our ability to teach the students.
What steps would you take to reduce federal spending, address debt, and restore fiscal discipline?
I think some of the federal spending that has hurt us is honestly our spending on the military. I think that we are investing way too much money in the military and not focusing here on our own country. I think the main focus needs to be on cutting spending on our war machine that’s policing the entire world.
What is your position on the SAVE Act and federal efforts to strengthen election integrity?
I’m in full support of the SAVE Act. I think if you have to have an ID to buy spray paint, you need to have an ID to vote in an election. I think that should be across the board in every state. I think it’s very important.
How would you protect access to federal lands for grazing, timber, recreation, and resource use while supporting rural economies?
I think Idaho should be able to manage its own land. I would support getting the Federal government out of land management in Idaho and bringing it to the local state level. This would be a huge benefit to Idaho.
How do federal immigration policies impact Idaho, and what changes would you support to enforce laws and protect workers?
I support building the border wall. I also support E-Verify, though I do see the dilemma for employers. It should be implemented nationwide at the federal level, putting everyone on an equal playing field – you can’t hire immigrants who don’t have work visas.
Do you support term limits for members of Congress?
I 100% support term limits. I would vote in favor of term limits in the House and Senate.
What is your stance on legalization of marijuana?
Marijuana has ruined many people’s lives the same way alcohol and legal pharmaceutical drugs have, but goes a step further because of the amount of people who are incarcerated because of it. I don’t know the right answer but there are people who need help and need to be able to be forgiven and move on from their mistakes.
How will you stay accessible and responsive to your constituents?
I would organize town halls in each of the counties that I represent at least once during the two year term. I prefer face to face interactions with constituents over a phone conversation. It’s important to listen to everyone’s perspective and give them an opportunity to meet you face to face.
What question do you wish voters were asking—but aren’t?
I think the question would be… “What can I do to help me feel like I’m getting the representation that I deserve?” I feel like people aren’t feeling represented and I think they should be asking themselves, “How do I gain the representation that I want?”
