Ballot Measures

A ballot measure is a proposed law, constitutional amendment, or policy question that appears on a statewide or local ballot for voters to decide directly. These can include proposed constitutional amendments, initiatives, referendums, advisory questions, bonds and levies, etc.

2026 General Election Ballot Measures

Proposition 1

Short Ballot Title: Measure creating right to abortion before fetus viability¹, and post-viability to protect health²; right to privacy³; healthcare provider liability protections⁴.

Clarifying Information:

1. “Viability” is usually 20-24 weeks in pregnancy, but Prop 1 redefines “viability” to mean when a baby can survive “without extraordinary medical measures.” This redefinition allows abortion for any reason through the 7th or 8th month of pregnancy — this is too far!
2. Prop 1 allows abortions even after a baby has a “significant likelihood of sustained survival outside of the uterus without extraordinary medical measures.”
3. Prop 1 applies to “every person” — not just adults, so it would remove parental consent and notification laws. If Prop 1 passes, abortion would be the only procedure that can be performed on a child without her parents’ permission.
4. Prop 1 permits any “healthcare provider” — NOT just doctors — to perform abortions, and liability is waived for “healthcare providers” and anyone assisting in abortion access.

Prop 1 is WAY TOO EXTREME and NOT WHAT IT SEEMS!

If you’re pro-life, obviously you should vote NO on Proposition 1.

This goes way past Roe v. Wade, so if you’re pro-choice, you should still vote NO on Proposition 1.
