Give us your one-minute elevator speech for the campaign.

I’m a 6th generation Idahoan. I love Idaho and my wife is a 5th generation Idahoan. I have four little 7th generation Idahoans I’m raising! I am motivated to run because I loves our great state and want it to continue to be a great state for my children.

What are your top three priorities, and what would you act on first?

My second term has just concluded, and I have a strong record of lowering taxes and returning money to Idahoans through property and income tax relief. I am advancing measures to further reduce taxes while making the system fair, simple, and transparent. I have consistently supported deregulation to expand freedom and make Idaho easier for families and businesses. As co-chair of Idaho’s DOGE committee, I helped cut 30,000 words of code, consolidate six organizations, and advance reforms. I believe we must continue this work, identifying inefficiencies in state agencies and reducing unnecessary regulation to promote accountability, economic growth, and individual liberty.

The party calls for reducing non-core state spending. Which programs would you cut or sunset, and what principles guide your budget decisions?

The budget and tax policy are tied, so I support lowering taxes. To do this, it necessitates looking at spending and growth. Particularly looking Health and Welfare. Health and Welfare is growing larger than any other budget category. The budget is huge. We need to put that area under the microscope above anything else. In the state agencies, there are vacant positions that receive funding from the state budget but are never filled. Some agencies purposely leave these positions in their agency to prevent a loss of funding. By removing those unused positions off the budget last year, we were able to cut $60 million dollars. I want to continue doing that work.

Do you support education dollars following students to the school their parents choose, including private schools? Why or why not?

I supported House Bill 93 two sessions ago (parental choice tax credit). I supported it in the committee and on the floor vote and I continue to support that. I believe parents’ rights come first. We also need strong schools. I have kids in public schools and public charter schools. Parents should be given a choice. Lack of income should not deprive their choice of where to school their children.

Housing costs and property taxes are major concerns. What specific state actions would you support, and what tradeoffs are you willing—or not willing—to make?

On property taxes, I introduced a bill and continue working to allow homeowners to pay off property taxes on their primary residence. This would help those on fixed incomes, especially retirees, stay in their homes as taxes rise. On housing affordability, we must carefully consider government’s role. Too often, government attempts to fix problems but makes them worse. I support free-market solutions and believe markets often resolve challenges more effectively. We should closely evaluate whether existing government policies are driving up housing costs and remove burdens that make it harder for Idahoans to afford homes.

What is your position on holding employers accountable for knowingly hiring undocumented workers in Idaho?

My voting record shows that I support strong immigration laws. The law should be clear about employers and what they must do considering illegal immigrants. The Federal Government also need to address it because that burden falls on the state, but until they address it, the State must act.

Medicaid costs are rising, and access remains a concern. What long-term reforms would you support to control costs, improve access, and protect taxpayers?

Our DOGE taskforce worked on looking into the repeal of Medicaid expansion last year. Medicaid has exploded in growth beyond what we were told it would when we originally adopted it. Trends show it will continue to grow. We have tried to reform work requirements to address this. The Federal level has talked about lowering the amount of support they will match to the States and if that happens, the vulnerable in Idaho might end up struggling the most, so this needs to be addressed.

What is your stance on the legalization of marijuana?

I am against the legalization of marijuana. The experience in other states has proven negative. Medical marijuana could have a place with the right oversight and conditions.

Would you oppose multi-subject bills—even if you support part of them? Why or why not?

Our State Constitution mandates single subject bills and I support our Constitution on this topic.
