Liz Flower

Liz Flower

My name is Liz Flower. At 16, I began working and later pursued my interest in law enforcement as a corporate investigator, quickly advancing to interviewer.

After marrying Tyrone and welcoming our daughter Cierra, I balanced family life with building our automotive business located on Star Rd, Royal British Motorcars and later became a top Jaguar and Land Rover salesperson for North America, earning numerous accolades.

Tyrone and I eventually moved to Star to be near family and open our business here. The friendships we’ve made and the opportunity to serve our community have been incredible—we truly love Star!

Survey and Interview Responses

Why are you running for this office?

We are blessed with such a close-knit community that is quickly growing. I want to be part of guiding that growth in a way that preserves the character and values that drew us here, ensuring the same sense of belonging for the next generation.

What are your qualifications?

“With over 30 years of experience in corporate investigations and luxury automotive sales, I bring a unique blend of professionalism, integrity, and results-driven expertise. I was honored to be recognized as the top female Jaguar Land Rover salesperson in North America and am a two-time recipient of the prestigious Jaguar Land Rover Master’s Guild Award (2014 & 2016). In addition, I built a successful career in real estate with a multi-million-dollar sales record.

I am polished, personable, and persuasive—not for my own agenda, but as a true representative of the people I serve. My passion lies in connecting with others, fostering trust, and ensuring that growth and progress reflect the values of the community.”

If elected, what are your goals?

I believe in managing growth in a positive way that truly serves the needs of our community. By listening to our citizens and working alongside them, we can plan responsibly for today while preserving the character and opportunity that will benefit the next generation

What experience do you have serving on boards, commissions, non-profits, etc. where you have been of service to others?

I currently serve as President of the Star Community Alliance, where I and my team are leading efforts to develop a future new library for the community. As a Board Member of the Star Chamber of Commerce, I help strengthen local business connections and organize the monthly Chamber luncheons. I was also proud to host the annual High Tea in support of the library as well as sponsoring large donor basket I also had the opportunity to coordinate fundraisers for the local food bank and community car show—all with the goal of giving back and supporting the needs of our community.

Do you consider yourself fiscally conservative?

Absolutely

Do you consider yourself socially conservative?

Yes

What do you believe is the most pressing issue facing our city right now, and how would you address it?

I believe affordable housing is one of the biggest challenges our community faces. Star is growing quickly, and while we want families, seniors, and young people to be able to stay here, we also must protect our small-town character.

My approach is balance. We need to make sure growth pays for itself by using impact and mitigation fees responsibly, so taxpayers aren’t left holding the bag. At the same time, we can encourage a mix of housing options that fit within our community — not just high-density projects that change the feel of Star, but thoughtful development that allows families at different stages of life to live here.

I will also work closely with our neighboring cities and the county to address regional housing pressures, because this issue doesn’t stop at Star’s borders. By planning smartly, protecting property rights, and keeping our community vision front and center, we can make housing more attainable while preserving what makes Star special.

Affordable housing is a huge concern. What are your plans to address this?

I don’t currently have this information since I’m not currently on the City Council but I will investigate the affordable housing issue. I just know that we want to make sure we are taking care of people on fixed income and low income. I’ll make a note of that to address this issue.

How will you ensure transparency in your decisions?

I believe in transparency and talking with people. In addition to existing town halls, I would like to pursue other communication avenues to hear from people even one on one. I want to have monthly coffee gatherings with people where we sit down and talk to get their input.

What are your spending priorities?

Upon reviewing the budget, it appears the city has tightened its spending. However, I question whether all budget line items have been thoroughly reviewed for competitive pricing and multiple bids. For instance, the city’s health insurance costs seem excessively high. When I inquired, the Mayor stated they only solicit bids from a single company, rather than exploring other options. Are there other areas where we could achieve cost savings? I believe the city should operate more like a business, ensuring tax dollars are spent prudently.

What are your thoughts on raising taxes?

Raising taxes should always be the very last resort. Families are already feeling the burden of higher costs, and many of our neighbors — especially those on fixed incomes — simply can’t afford more.

I believe in fiscal responsibility: making sure growth pays for itself, managing the budget wisely, and keeping spending accountable and transparent. My focus will be on protecting taxpayers while ensuring Star has the services and infrastructure we need to thrive.

In your view, what are two essential leadership qualities?

My professional background reflects two decades of experience interacting with diverse individuals from all walks of life. As a corporate investigator, I developed strong information-gathering skills and the ability to connect with people in various capacities. This was further refined during my time selling high-end vehicles, where I engaged with a wide range of clients, from grocery store clerks to CEOs.

A consistent theme throughout my career has been the understanding that while people share fundamental similarities, effective engagement requires tailoring approaches to individual needs and interests. In my current business, I continue to serve a diverse clientele across different income levels, always prioritizing active listening and a focus on individual interests. I firmly believe in the inherent importance of every person and the necessity of treating everyone with equal respect.
